Hailed by Entertainment Tonight as “a rising star of the indie music scene,” singer-songwriter Hayley Taylor writes songs that have an immediate appeal with their sophisticated song craft and passionate vulnerability.  Her music has been featured in commercials, TV shows, and films,  including How I Met Your Mother (CBS), Royal Pains (USA), Privileged (CW), Heartland and most recently a Vick’s commercial.  She was also recently comissioned by How I Met Your Mother to record a duet with the band The 88 which just aired on the show this fall.

Taylor’s debut full-length album, One Foot in Front of the Other, set for release this August, was produced by Dan Romer (Ingrid Michaelson) and Eric Robinson (Matt Nathanson, Kate Voegele).  It features performances by an all-star cast of players, including Michael Chaves (John Mayer), Ben Peeler (Alexi Murdoch), Adrienne Woods (Josh Radin, Jonas Brothers), Elliot Jacobson (ingrid Michaelson), and producer Marshall Altman (Kate Voegele).

Taylor’s debut EP, Waking, produced by AJ Mogis (Saddlecreek), received rave reviews worldwide and was nominated by the LA Music Awards for 2006 “Best Independent Album of the Year.” Earcandy describes her as being “at once reminiscent of Rachael Yamagata and evocative of a female Ryan Adams.”  Taylor’s songs blend rock and folk sensibilities, threatening to break your heart with their haunting melodies, spellbinding lyrics, and unforgettable imagery. The way she sings lets you know that you know she's lived every moment of the lyrics.

Recently, Taylor and her band interviewed on Entertainment Tonight and she was also featured artist in ASCAP's highly-acclaimed Audio Portraits series

Born in Michigan and raised in Los Angeles, Taylor began performing at a young age, working as a professional actress into her teens in TV and film.  Though she began playing music and singing early on, it wasn’t until college that she realized music was her true passion. (Taylor has a BA in English from Vassar College, attended the Sorbonne, & has an MFA in art).
